What is a REU site?

An REU Site consists of a group of ten or so undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Each student is associated with a specific research project, where he/she works closely with the faculty and other researchers. Students are granted stipends and, in many cases, assistance with housing and travel.

What does REU stand for?

For other uses, see Reu (disambiguation). Reu or Ragau ( Hebrew: רְעוּ, romanized : Rəʿū; Biblical Greek: Ῥαγαύ, romanized: Rhagaú ), according to Genesis in the Hebrew Bible, was the son of Peleg and the father of Serug, thus being Abraham 's great-great-grandfather and the ancestor of the Israelites and Ishmaelites.

How much do REU students get paid?

Students participating in REU sites are generally provided with a modest stipend ($4,000–$6,000 for 10 weeks of work), housing, transportation to and from the site, and often arrangements for food. REU individual experiences pay (stipends or on an hourly basis) at about the same payrate as REU sites.
